During a contentious White House press briefing Wednesday, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt was fact-checked live on television for inaccurately claiming that Judge James Boasberg, who temporarily paused President Donald Trump’s deportation order under the Alien Enemies Act, was appointed by Barack Obama.

Leavitt’s mistaken assertion came as the White House has been locked in a heated battle with the judicial branch over Trump’s immigration policies. She noted, in a briefing that is likely far from her last: “Sixty-seven percent of all of the injunctions in this century have come against which president? Donald J. Trump.

This is a clear, concerted effort by leftist judges who don’t like this president and are trying to impose or slow down his agenda.” Her critique became a matter of national debate after NBC News Senior White House correspondent Garrett Haake corrected her. Appearing surprised by his choice to respond while briefing from the Whitehouse Leavitt was turned, not for the first time off her script.

— “You took me right where I wanted to go about the idea of these people are all foreign terrorists, but Judge Boesberg was originally appointed by George W. Bush and then elevated by Barack Obama. I just feel like I should clear that up–” Haake said.

It’s yet another attempt made by the current administration to depict Boasberg’s ruling as politically motivated. Another instance where increasingly combative anti judiciary statements abruptly shift from inflamed rhetoric to actual attempts at impeachment over rulings. Even though impeachment on this grounds is practically unprecedented, and certain to result in censure from the chief justice.

The full extent of the clash between the executive and the judiciary has yet to play out and already it’s become front page news for American readers. It seems almost everyone in the political sphere is deciding which side they are on over Trump’s decision to use the Alien Enemies Act on deportations. This could perhaps be offset by Leavitt efforts at rolling back the unfreezing of assets sanctions on Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The American people appear ready for the migratory policies of a Trump lead Whitehouse especially if treaties can be kept up. They also appear ready for Trump’s intended conflict with Iran, and seem sceptical about his newly pronounced lack of regard for his potential U.S election opponent, Nikki Haley.

## Resolution/Likely Outcome

The impeachment of a judge on these grounds would be an unusual move that critics say could set a dangerous precedent in the judicial review process. In this case, as in most, legal scholars insiste these matters would be better served by the appeals process. Meanwhile Thursday will bring a much needed breath of fresh air in the Whitehouse due in no small part to the arrival of Elon Musk in advance of a news conference with President Donald Trump.

There is however one news item that managed to topple Trump from his usual place atop the daily news cycle. Roger Stettbou from the fbi podcast Back Story gave a news conference at the beginning of the week indicated the long lost spirit of playboy might appear for an interview with Back Story if nagitived state funds could beraised.
